Curriculum Features


 

Our school emphasises in fostering students to be capable in "bi-literacy and tri-lingualism"; facilitate communication, expression, and critical thinking skills; handle the use of information and techonology; learn to love oneself and others; to develop a healthy lifestyle and know how to protect the Earth, its environment and resources.

Our development direction involves reinforcing the developed currciulum.  The object is to reinforce the already developed curriculum and maintain the advantages that currently offer from the developed curriclum whilst seeking new ways to enhance the current curriculum.

 

Focus of this year's curriclum development:

 1. Small Class Teaching

       It is to cater for learners' difference and, at the same time, to enahnce students' ability to   find their own potential.  To have students achieve the same goal by group learning and by posing higher order thinking questions.  There will also be assessments where students will understand their own abilities so as to have them reflect and self-learn.


 2. E-Learning

     Learning is not only limited to classrooms, but every where with internet access.  E-learning can cater and adjust accordingly to students' abilities, and can be easily accessed for self-learning.  Interactivity amongst friends on platforms not only develop students' belonging to the group, but also their responsiblity for the group through contributions.  It is also convenient for students to review what they have done and understand their progress through records and reports.  
 

3.Class Schedules

    Arrange the core courses (Chinese, English, Mathematics, General Studies) in the morning when students could concentrate.  Courses with more activities and interactions (Visual Ars, Music, PE, etc.) will be arranged in the afternoon.


4.Self-Learning and Preparation Lesson

    Our school provides a half a hour session each day, the self-learning lesson, to give students a chance to organise, study or ask questions from their peers or classroom teacher regarding their homework and what they have learnt.


 

Subject Features


 

Chinese Language

讓學生從認識中國文化和欣賞中國文學中確認國民身分,並以戲劇元素融入課程,使學生的綜合表達能力、分析能力和批判性思考能力得以提升。中文課的多元化評核方法能幫助老師了解學生的學習情況,用以調適教學內容和策略以改進學與教。

一、 二年級的校本朗讀教材可以增進學生的口語表達能力和自信心;三至六年級的「以閱讀帶動閱讀與寫作」的校本學習單元和學習歷程檔案可以增加學生的書寫能力。

 

English Language

A lot of resources are allocated to help students develop an ever-learning ability to learn English.

To successfully help students learn effectively in a joyful way, students are grouped into different classes according to their English abilities. The curriculum is specially designed according to the learning needs of different classes. A rich English learning environment is established through different activities, camps, competitions, and etc.

 

Mathematics

透過遊戲學習、資訊科技、創設情境等不同的學習經歷,培養學生批判性思考、創意、構思、探究及數學推理的能力,學生從課堂小組合作學習中更能提升與別人溝通及表達意見的能力,利用數學來建立及解決日常生活上的問題。

 

General Studies

課程讓學生有機會結合個人、社會及人文教育、科學教育與科技教育三個學習領域所涉及的能力、知識及價值觀進行學習,以建構知識及發展獨立學習的能力。課程的設計理念著重學生整體的學習經驗,尤以「科技手冊」的學習記錄得以培養學生的探究精神,發展學生「學會學習」的能力。

 

Ethics and Religious Studies

本校為天主教方濟會屬校,在傳揚福音和培養學童的靈性發展擔當重要的角色,所以我們在德育和信仰生活的層面上,教導學生宗教知識和正確的人生觀,以基督的精神,啟發學童的心性良知,從而達到榮主就靈的目的。

 

Music

課程除了在課堂上建構音樂知識、發展學生的音樂技能和外,還會通過不同的活動,到校外欣賞音樂會及邀請專業團體到校演出,讓學生享受音樂,培養音樂造詣,拓展藝術及文化領域。

 

Visual Arts

課程透過美術知識、美術創作及美術欣賞以擴展學生的美術視覺,豐富其視覺經驗,啟發學生的美術潛能,藉此充實其人生。

 

Putonghua (Mandarin)

為提升學生的說話和聆聽能力,本校特別聘請一位以普通話為母語的老師。小一、小二增設的朗讀課程,使學生透過多元的活動掌握朗讀技巧,提升對朗讀的興趣及自信心。小三至小六加插校本課程以配合港澳普通話水平測試。課堂外,我們透過不同類型的活動,如校園電視台廣播、廣告設計、講故事、話劇比賽等,營造實際語境,創造聽說普通話的機會。

 

Information & Technology

學生資訊科技能力的發展,除了讓學生掌握不同軟件的用法外,還致力提升學生中文輸入法的能力。現時,本校學生在畢業前均能掌握最少一種中文輸入法,有能力在更廣闊的網絡世界裏獲取資訊。

電子學習計畫大大加強了師生間之互動,學生也透過平台互評和互學,提升教與學的效能。

 

Physical Education

除了一般體育課,運動會和校隊訓練外,亦籌備多項與健康有關的活動,如早操、護眼操、小息和午息時段的體育活動,鼓勵學生多做運動,藉以鍛煉強健的體格與實踐「以靈律已、以愛待人」的良好態度。

 

Life Guidance and Education

為了培育學生的正確價值觀,讓學生認識生命的獨特性,尊重生命,還為自己的生命添上色彩,所以有規律的生活和良好的行為要從小養成的。每星期一課堂的生活指導課,及按主題進行的生命教育課提供了很多學習的機會。
